The Starland Vocal Band’s one-hit wonder ‘Afternoon Delight’ has more modest origins than it’s lyrics suggest. According to band member Kathy Nivert, the idea for the song came from a menu item at Clyde’s restaurant in Georgetown.
Over the years, ‘Afternoon Delight’ has received an eclectic mix of honours, including a number one spot on the Billboard 100, three Grammy nominations and a spot on AOL’s list of The 100 Worst Songs Ever.
