Sex is often portrayed as an activity reserved for the exclusive enjoyment of young people.
According to the Janus Report on Sexual Behaviour, 74% of women ages 65 and older engage in weekly sexual activity, compared to 68% of women ages 18 to 26. Another study by the New England Journal Of Medicine revealed that seniors who reported being in very good or excellent health were twice as likely to be sexually active than those who reported fair or poor health.
Research also shows that people with active sex lives in their 40s and 50s are more likely to remain sexually active in their later years. As my Grannie used to say, “start as you mean to go on.”
