If you’re into feminism and cuddly, bespectacled dudes who rap, you need to check out Jesse Dangerously. Right. Now.

Jesse has mad lyrical style and personal politics that cut to the quick. Every time I listen to one his tracks I’m all, “I’m being forced to challenge my assumptions…TO THE BEAT!”

His latest offering is “Bring Your Girlfriend To Rap Day” which features fluffy cats, a human hot dog and the maginificent Audra Williams! Trust me when I tell you that you need to check out this delightful and seriously sexy jam. Right. Now.

  1. This is awesome! Thank you for sharing this šŸ˜€

Sexy is different things to different people. šŸ˜‰ I wish there was a stronger hook. The rapping is clever most of the time, but it’s not going to get stuck in my head.

    But delightful? Absolutely!!

    • Hey Greg I’m glad you find it delightful – you’re right that hookiness per se is not my strong suit, but check out this recent video by my group, Backburner – I find the hook sung by Thesis Sahib to be extremely catchy! What do you think?

Why am I attracted to the guy in the chicken suit?

        Also…

“When the rags are hot, the bra burns itself!”

        YES!

  3. Thanks so much for this post, Nadine! I happened *cough* to be googling my name to see what people were saying about my SXSW showcase last night, and got this surprise! I feel like when I’m compiling blurbs for whatever I do next, I definitely need to include your line about challenging assumptions to the beat. That’s flattering and hilarious!

    Shucks!

*I* am flattered that you want to include something I said in your blurb compilation! Seriously, I am a big fan and “Bring Your Girlfriend” is utterly wonderful – I could rave about it for days.
